Kundalini is the power or energy in the form of a coiled serpent, residing in Muladhara Chakra, the first of the seven Chakras.Kundalini yoga is all about awakening this kundalini and employing its power, which resides in our the base of our spine, in a safe way.

Kundalini Yoga was developed over 50,000 years ago by yogis in India, who perfected the precise movements, postures and breathing that activate different parts of the body and brain to produce specific results. Kundalini Yoga was brought to the West by yogi bhajan in 1969.

To understand kundalini yoga better you must know about the seven chakras or psychic centers of the human body. Because kundalini is believed to move in from one chakra to other upwards.

Kundalini yoga is the most powerful form of yoga which shares the same goal as Hatha yoga, the union with the divine source. Kundalini yoga is awakened by Kundalini pranayama. Aspirants are expected to observe of yama (code of conduct) like truth, non-violence and continence. As the yogi ascends to the next level, kundalini ascends to the next chakra. Yogi becomes more awakened. When Kundalini reaches the last chakra or Sahasrara Chakra, or the Thousand-petaled lotus, the Yogi loses his individuality in the ocean of Knowledge-Bliss Absolute and becomes one with the God or Supreme being.
